The Spiritual Meaning of the Platonic Solids
In this blog we’ll dive into the Spiritual Meaning of the Platonic Solids.
Since Sacred Geometry has a positive energetic effect on us, so do the Platonic Solids.
Each and every Platonic Solid can assist you in a different way on your spiritual path, but they all have one thing in common.
They’re the most primitive, stable and balanced shapes in the Universe. For this reason, they will mostly balance energies in your system and the environment.
We’ve already seen in the Platonic Solids blog that Plato connected all the Platonic Solids to the basic elements.
So therefore, the Tetrahedron resonates with FIRE, the Cube with EARTH, the Octahedron with AIR, the Icosahedron with WATER and the Dodecahedron with the UNIVERSE.
But there is more to this, since our Chakra system is also resonating with the Platonic Solids.
What is the Spiritual Meaning of the Platonic Solids?
Spiritual Meaning of the Platonic Solids and Chakras
Since each Platonic Solid is resonating with one of the elements, each element is in turn also resonating with a Chakra of our energy system. As you might see, everything is connected with one another.
Like Leonardo da Vinci once said: “Realize that everything connects to everything else.”
Everything affects everything else. So if there is a blockage on one of your chakras, this will have an effect on everything else. So taking care of yourself, also means taking care of others. If you want to learn more about Chakras and Sacred Geometry; We’ve written another blog about cleaning your Chakras with the help of Sacred Geometry.
The Chakras, the Elements and the Platonic Solids
So let’s take a look how each chakra resonates with each element and each Platonic Solid. We’ll start from the bottom up.
The Root Chakra, also known as the Muladhara Chakra, represents stability and support. Since the Cube is the most stable Platonic Solid and roots love to grow in the Earth, it strongly resonates with the Root Chakra.
The Sacral Chakra, also known as the Swadishthan Chakra, represents Joy, well being and emotion. It resonates with element water, since emotions need to flow. Thus it resonates with the Icosahedron.
The Solar Plexus Chakra, also known as the Manipura Chakra, represents Power and Wisdom. This Chakra resonates with the element Fire and thus with the Tetrahedron.
The Heart Chakra, also known as the Anahata Chakra, represents love, forgiveness and compassion. This Chakra resonates with the element Air and thus with the Octahedron.
You might have heard of the saying “to blow off some steam”. Steam is water (emotion) in its gaseous state (air). Most of these sayings have a deeper spiritual meaning than you might think.
The Throat Chakra, also known as the Vishuddha Chakra, represents sound, wisdom and creation. It resonates with the element Aether and thus with the Dodecahedron.
Sound itself is a very powerful tool for creation, or destruction, depending on how you use it. You’ve probably heard the words Abracadabra, used by many magicians on stage. But these words have a deeper spiritual meaning. Translated from Hebrew it means: “I will create as I speak”. Powerful words.
The Third Eye Chakra, also known as the Ajna Chakra, represents knowledge, dignity, perception and intuition. This Chakra also resonates with the element Aether and thus with the Dodecahedron as well. The Third Eye can be used to watch in other realities and dimensions.
The Crown Chakra, also known as the Sahasrara Chakra, represents balance and oneness with the Universe.
Also this Chakra resonates with Aether and the Dodecahedron.
How the Platonic Solids can help you grow Spiritually
There are many ways to use the Platonic Solids for your spiritual growth, but meditation is one of the most common ways to do so. When you’re working with the Platonic Solids, you are working with the energies of creation itself. You’ll be able to manifest a new life, one that is more aligned with you.
That’s the real Spiritual meaning of the Platonic Solids.
Besides actively using them, the Platonic Solids also have an effect on our subconsciousness, just like all forms of Sacred Geometry do. By simply placing the objects in a room, they’ll balance the energies of that area.
Each Platonic Solids will balance the energies they resonate with.
We’ll guide you through the Spiritual Meanings of the Platonic Solids and show you how each Platonic Solid can be used to grow spiritually.
The Cube’s Spiritual Meaning
The Hexahedron, or the Cube, its key function is Grounding. It can help you to reconnect to the energies of Gaia and Nature, firmingly grounding you. Some even say it might activate your Kundalini, if you’re ready for it.
If you’re stressed then this Platonic Solid is the one that can help you the best. The Cube can help you remove tension and physical stress.
Besides, it provides the foundation of creativity and stability. Without this foundation, creativity won’t be sparked.
The Icosahedron’s Spiritual Meaning
The Icosahedron’s key function is Transformation. It can assist you in many ways. For example, it enhances your creative thought process. Not only that, but it can also help you unblocking and removing emotional blockages that cut off the creative energies.
It can help you learn a new way of life; go with the flow. Allowing freedom of expression, creativity and positive change to flow effortlessly through you. A great way to attract more abundance in your life.
Besides, it will help you to understand the emotions that arise. It allows you to have a clear sight of why you experience certain emotions and helps you to react to it. It’s the perfect healing tool for finding balance and harmony, especially in the areas of fertility and sexuality.
The Tetrahedron’s Spiritual Meaning
The Tetrahedron’s key function is Manifestation. It’s the perfect Platonic Solid that can help you to create change in your life. It supports your personal power and acceptance of the old, so you can create something new.
Besides, it can help you think more clearly, or shine a light (element fire and light) on some ideas. As last, the Tetrahedron will also bring a natural balance between the physical and the spiritual. Since it’s also seen as the perfect symbol for balance and stability.
The Octahedron’s Spiritual Meaning
The Octahedron’s key function is Integration. This Platonic Solid can help you with healing, acceptance, forgiveness and compassion for yourself and others.
The Octahedron can also help you with self reflecting and raising your vibration. This can help you with having more compassion for yourself, which in turn boosts your healing process.
It will also help you with expressing your creativity through your voice and helps with speaking from the heart. Creating a stronger connection with your inner world and your outer world. “As within, so without”.
The Dodecahedron’s Spiritual Meaning
The Dodecahedron’s key functions are Ascension, Expression, Divine creation of life and the highest form of Consciousness.
It can help you to raise your frequency and to connect with higher dimensions and your higher self. It’s the perfect tool for meditation.
Besides, the Dodecahedron has a very high frequency. This not only helps raise your own frequency, but the frequency of the environment as well.
How to use the Platonic Solids
Now that you know what the Spiritual Meaning of the Platonic Solids are, we have made some exercises to get you started with these amazing shapes. You can do these exercises whenever you feel the need to do them. You can do them all, or just one of them. Do what feels best for you.
In the future we’ll make some more guided exercises.
Exercise 1: Staring
Stare or glance at one of the Platonic Solids, one at the time. If you don’t have the Platonic Solids in your room, a picture will do.
You can pick any Platonic Solid. You can choose one for its Spiritual Meaning or the one that’s resonating with you at this moment.
Focus on the center of the geometry.
Take the time and allow its energy to enter your system.
Just observe what you feel and how your body responds to this geometry, without judgement.
When you feel it’s enough, take the next Platonic Solid and you can repeat this exercise for each Solid.
Exercise 2: Meditation
Meditate with your Sacred Geometric object or image.
You can sit or lay down and take some time to make it comfortable for yourself.
Hold your geometry in your hand or place the Platonic Solid on its corresponding Chakra.
Close your eyes, or if you prefer, you can gaze to a point which feels relaxing for you.
Take the time and allow its energy to enter your system. Observe every feeling or tingling.
You can continue this meditation with the following exercises.
Exercise 3: Breathing Exercise
Do a (mindful) breathing exercise, while meditating or glancing at the Platonic Solids.
Start by observing your breathing, you don’t have to change anything, just let your natural breathing be as it is.
When you feel more relaxed, you can start to deepen your breath. Imagine to breath in through or to the geometry, depending on where you hold it.
If you are holding your geometry before your throat (or Heart Chakra) or above, imagine to breathe in through the geometry, deep into your body.
If you hold the geometry in front of your belly or near your legs or feet, you can imagine to breathe in towards this space of your body.
And fill this way your body with its energy. With every inhale: breath the energy in. And breathe out that you wish to let go.
And finally, let your breath return to its natural state.
Exercise 4: Body Scan
Scan your body and your chakras. Start with focusing on your feet, how do they feel? Just observe and relax this part of your body. Move up to your legs and scan each part (or each chakra) and make your way up.
If you notice that a certain place (or chakras) could use a little help, place the corresponding Platonic Solid on that place (or chakra). Release any tension and relax even more. If you’re having trouble letting go of the tension, try to tighten the muscles at that spot and then let go again.
If you have scanned your whole body from feet to crown, take a moment to observe your whole body.
And go on to the next exercise or end your exercise by slowly coming back to this reality by moving your feet and hands.
Exercise 5: Imagine
Imagine the Platonic Solids, one by one. Start with the Tetrahedron, imagine this geometry before you. You can even play a little with this object, can you turn it or flip it? What does this geometry look like to you?
If you are seeing the whole geometry as it is, let it grow until you can sit or lay inside the geometry.
Imagine that you’re taking place inside your Sacred Geometry.
Feel the energy of this geometry and feel how your system responds to it.
Allow your body to vibrate on this frequency. By every inhale, allow the energy even more into your body. By every exhale, relieve any tension or let go which doesn’t resonate.
Observe what you feel. Maybe you’re feeling being lifted, like you’re floating. Or you may feel grounded, feeling a little heavy. Maybe you feel some tingling or a part of your body is feeling warm. Or none of it all. Everything is okay.
You can repeat this exercise with every other Platonic Solid: the Octahedron, Cube, Dodecahedron and the Icosahedron.
When you are done, slowly come back into the room. Start by deepening your breath. Observe your body and start moving your toes, feet, fingers and hands.
