History
Lapis Lazuli, or Lapis for short, is a deep blue gemstone. This stone consists of multiple minerals.
Mostly Lazurite, Sodalite, Calcite and Pyrite.
During the Renaissance this specific color was considered as Sacred. Lapis Lazuli was ground into powder and mixed into paint.
They used it to paint the robes of Virgin Mary and other historic cathedrals. At that time, this material was more expensive than gold.
The ancient Egyptians associated this beautiful blue stone with the night sky. It was seen as a sacred stone and used for amulets and scarabs.
The world famous death mask of Tut-Ankh-Amon is made of pure gold and stripes of lapis lazuli.
They not only used Lapis Lazuli for jewelry, amulets and scarabs. They ground it as well and mixed it with fat, so they could use it as eye shadow. Especially Cleopatra used Lapis Lazuli and Malachite for her make-up.

You can clean Lapis Lazuli by placing it in Sunlight, Moonlight or by placing it in a bowl of uncooked rice.
Other methods you can use are using the Tibetan singing bowl, placing it in a Geode, placing it near Selenite or Smudge it with Sage or Palo Santo Wood (Holy Wood).
