Thoth, the Ancient Egyptian God of Writing, Wisdom and Magic, is also known in other cultures. Namely the Ancient Greek culture.
In the Greek civilization, he went by the name Hermes. Hermes is described as moving freely between the worlds of the mortal and the divine.

The legend says these tablets were found in a vault under the statue of Hermes in the city Tyana in Turkey. Inside that vault there was an old corpse on a golden throne. That corpse held the emerald tablets.
