Planet Earth, a beautiful learning environment with an abundance of variation in life and nature. And that on one planet!
She gives us a lot, mainly her minerals, earth and trees. At this moment she is giving more than she gets from us as humanity.
We have thought a lot about what we want to bring to mankind with our work; raising awareness through Sacred Geometry. But we haven’t thought about what we want to bring to our planet. What do we leave behind after our short stay on this planet?
Sometimes it feels as if we, as humanity as a whole, are using this planet as a kind of festival ground. Lots of noise, lots of waste and everyone has their attention at the party. When the festivalgoers return home, a damaged terrain is left behind with a lot of plastic waste.
It’s Time to Act
Right now our planet is in crisis, she needs help. And she lets us know abundantly.
Tremendous hurricanes, floods and droughts appear in strange places.
But how can we help her and where to begin?
We have decided to help the earth by planting trees. Every sold design product* of us ensures that a tree will be planted.
*With the exception of our freebies and mass produced products such as a silver necklace.
We love nature.
It is essential for the planet and all living beings. Plus, as a bonus, they also produce oxygen.
Of course, we could also have bought CO2 certificates that prevent or remove CO2 emissions from the air. But in our opinion, that doesn’t help the planet. In addition, trees can do much more than just extract CO2 from the air.
What Trees can do
Besides being able to make shade for you in the hot summers and extract CO2 from the air, they can also clean the air. They are, as it were, complex air filters. They absorb (harmful) gases such as carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide and nitrogen oxides. And return clean oxygen. Win win.
Not only the air, but they also filter the water and they slow down the absorption of water into the ground. This not only prevents water erosion, but also landslides because the roots hold it all together.
And, of course, biodiversity. There are so many animals that are in danger of extinction because, us humans, are cutting down forests on a large scale. Every 2 seconds a forest the size of a football field disappears. While a single tree can be a home to a hundred species of insects, fungi, moss, animals and other plants.
Then we haven’t even talked about the effect on people. Trees can also provide food for people and animals. This can reduce hunger and enable small businesses to grow from the fruit of the trees.
Plus, trees are stress relieving. It turns out that people in hospitals heal faster when they have a view on trees, than people who don’t have a view on trees.
This sounds much better to us than a piece of paper saying, “Congratulations, you’ve prevented 1 ton of CO2 from being emitted into the air.”
How we plant them
Luckily, we don’t have to plant every tree ourselves. Because then we wouldn’t have had time to design awesome products.
We plant the trees with the help of OneTreePlanted. They are experts in the field of trees and restoring forests, spread all over the world.
Once a year we choose an area where we will have trees planted. This year (2019) we have chosen to restore the Amazon Rainforest.
More than 60% of Peru is covered with rainforest, which is being cut down considerably for agriculture. By planting trees there, biodiversity can be protected in the primary forests. Like the jaguar, the monkeys and many other species. And the health of the soil can be restored.
In addition, the local farmers are guided and supported to set up a sustainable agroforestry system. So that farming can take place without the trees suffering.
An additional advantage is that the trees in a rainforest often grow faster than in other places.
What do I have to do to plant trees?
Almost nothing! By buying one of our products, we plant a tree for you.
If you want to be sure that one of our products is planting a tree, you can recognize it by this icon on our product pages:
